The attendance numbers are here for March!
Just like January and February, this was another challenging month for our students, families, and staff at Lakeside. Sickness continued to make the rounds, and that certainly effected our overall numbers. However, there are still plenty of positives to celebrate in this report!
Our weekly school attendance improved steadily throughout the month. We started at 89.7% in Week 1, climbed to 90.3% in Week 2, moved up again to 92.9% in Week 3, and finished the month strong at 93.9% in Week 4. Our cumulative attendance rate for March sits at 91.7%.
Now for our attendance all-stars!
Mrs. Welsh’s class continues to be on fire. They were above 95% every single week of March, finishing with an incredible 98.3% in Week 4. Mrs. Blake’s class also had an outstanding month, staying consistently strong and closing out Week 4 at 96.6%. Mrs. Horner reached above 95% in Weeks 1 and 4. Mrs. Brown hit above 95% in Weeks 2 and 3. Mrs. Ord had a remarkable spike in Week 3 at 97.5%.
Several classes met or exceeded their March goals:
Mrs. Blake (94.7% cumulative vs. 90% goal)
Mrs. Welsh (96.7% cumulative vs. 90% goal)
Mrs. Jordan (93.7% cumulative vs. 89% goal)
That is awesome! These teachers and students put in the work, and it shows.
We also had notable improvements from week to week. Mrs. Ord’s class made one of the biggest jumps this month, going from 72.5% in Week 1 all the way to 97.5% in Week 3. PK, Samples, Pauley, and Posey all had stronger finishes as the month went on. It’s always great to see that momentum.
Our tardies increased this month to 223, which is an area where we definitely have room for improvement. Consistent, on-time arrival makes a huge difference in our students’ success.
One area of significant concern remains our chronic absenteeism rate. We started the month at 26.06%, moved down to 25%, reached 23.4% in Week 3, and ended at 24.21%. While we are better than where we started this month, the percentage of students who have missed 10% or more days of school—verified and unverified—remains too high. We must continue working together to support regular attendance.
Thank you, Lakeside, for all you are doing. March had its challenges, but we also had bright spots worth celebrating. As always, every day matters. Let’s keep pushing forward and finish the year strong!
