The attendance numbers are here for April!

April brought a mix of challenges and celebrations for our students, families, and staff at Lakeside. While we continued to feel the effects of spring illnesses and schedule disruptions from testing, there are some strong positives to highlight in this report.

Our schoolwide attendance fluctuated throughout the month, starting at 94.0% in Week 1, dipping to 90.8% in Week 2, climbing back to 92.0% in Week 3, and finishing April at 93.6% in Week 4. Our cumulative attendance rate for April is 92.5%, and our yearly attendance rate now sits at 92.63%.

Now for our attendance all-stars!

Mrs. Brown’s class had an outstanding month, finishing with a 96.7% cumulative attendance rate and reaching 97.6% in both Weeks 1 and 4. Mrs. Pauley’s class was also on a roll, posting three consecutive weeks above 94% and closing April at 94.9% cumulative. Mrs. Welsh’s class started the month strong at 97.5% and finished with a solid 94.9%. Mrs. Blake’s class ended strong as well with 97.2% in Week 4.

A big shout‑out to Ms. Hill’s class for a perfect 100% attendance rate in Week 1—that is incredible!

Several classes met or exceeded strong attendance benchmarks this month, and many classes showed positive week‑to‑week improvements. Mrs. Ord’s class made a great climb from 85% in Week 1 to 97.5% in Week 4, and Mrs. Horner’s class rebounded nicely with 97.3% in Week 3 and 94.7% in Week 4. It is always encouraging to see classes finish the month stronger than they started.

Our tardies for April totaled 222, which remains an area where we have work to do. Consistent, on‑time arrival continues to be an important focus as it directly influences the start of instruction and student learning.

One ongoing concern continues to be chronic absenteeism. Our chronic attendance rate showed some improvement early in the month, moving from 24.21% to 23.4%, and reaching 22.87% in Week 3, before settling back at 23.4% by the end of April. While we are seeing some positive movement, nearly one‑quarter of our students have still missed 10% or more of school days, verified or unverified. This remains an area we must continue addressing together.

Thank you, Lakeside community, for your continued efforts and commitment to getting students here every day. April had its ups and downs, but there was a lot of great work happening across classrooms. Every day matters, and let’s keep pushing as we head into the final stretch of the school year! Way to be prepared, engaged, and ready to learn!
