Bus 1404 is not running Friday 9/15/23. Sam's Fork and Kimber Road students will ride home on bus 1204. Bus 1803 will bring home kids from 1404 that live along route 60. Please expect delays.
Dear Families:
Your student will be bringing home state assessment results today if he/she took the WV General Summative Assessment: grades 3-8, the WV Alternate Student Assessment: grades 3-8, or the SAT School Day exam for grade 11 last spring. In addition, you and your student will also be receiving an email with a link to a video score report for WVGSA or WV SAT only. The video link is being sent to the student email account and the parent email on file with your student. Please have your student check the student email account to find the link. Simply copy the link into your web browser and use your student’s birthdate to open the video score report.
If you do not receive printed score reports OR if you have difficulty opening the video report, please contact the school for assistance.
This is a reminder that we have no school on Monday, September 4. The third, fourth and fifth grade Kids Run the Nation BREATHE afterschool club applications are due Tuesday, September 5th. Please help us fundraise for our playground by selling the Save Around Books. Grandparents' Day is Friday, September 8th at 8:30.
We are raising money for playground improvements with our first fundraiser. Save Around coupon books and order forms were sent home today. They are $25 each and there are books for multiple cities that can be purchased. We hope you will participate to help improve our playground. If you do not wish to participate, please return the book and order form tomorrow.
We are forming an afterschool club at Lakeside Elementary called Kids Run the Nation: BREATHE. We hope to start it on Thursday, Sept. 7. On Monday and Thursday kids will stay after school from 3-4:30 and work on life skills with an emphasis on mental and physical health. Activities will include working on running stamina in addition to learning about community service and other civic mindedness. This club will last into November and at the end, the kids will participate in a 5 K run. This is only for third, fourth and fifth graders. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity as we are the only school in Putnam County doing this club in the fall. A flyer was sent home today. Open House will be August 22, from 4-6 p.m. Students can meet their teachers and visit their classrooms. We look forward to seeing everyone Tuesday.

You are invited to our Art Walk Wednesday May 24th between 2 and 5. We'd like to show off our students' art and parents will be given a sweet treat in appreciation for all the great work you do to help your child succeed. We'd love your feedback and any ideas you may have to improve our programs and school.
PTO meeting will be held Tuesday, May 23 @ 6:00. On Wednesday, May 24, we will hold our Art Walk and Parent Appreciation event together. Come see the kids' artwork between 2 and 5 and enjoy a sweet treat on us. We appreciate all you guys do to help your children, our classrooms, teachers, and school.
The PTO meeting for Thursday evening has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 23, at 6:00 in hopes of more people being able to attend due to the many events tonight preventing folks from attending. Hope to see you then.

Midterm grades are available by checking students' Schoology accounts. Please log in to see grades. Cookie dough will be delivered on Tuesday and will be available for pick up in the afternoon at the front of the school between 1 and 4. If you have a small order, we will it send home with your child.
Tuesday is picture day. You may order on line at Lifetouch.com or send in the envelope previously sent home. If you lost yours, we have additional ones. Orders should be in the child's blue folder (not their backpack).
Tuesday is also McTeacher Night at Hurricane McDonalds from 5-8. Proceeds will help the fifth graders with their end of year field trip.
Tuesday is also the last Good News Club Day at Lighthouse Baptist Church.

Now is the time to apply to receive this summer's Backpack Buddies food boxes. The boxes are mailed to your home in unmarked boxes at different times throughout the summer. Deliveries will start in the middle of June, and continue until the start of the new school year.
