Dec. 9-13 the Goodwill Truck will be here if you have things you'd like to drop off. It is a fundraiser for our new sound system. Smaller items, clothing, and textiles are what they are accepting. Dec. 9 at 8:00 a.m. is the 4th and 5th grade spelling bee. Parents of participants can attend. Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m. is the 4th and 5th grade Christmas program at First Baptist Church. Coming up week after next is Cookies with Santa on 12/17/24 from 6-7:30.

Goodwill Truck Fundraiser
December 9-13 we will have the Goodwill truck here to collect used toys, textiles (clothing, bedding, curtains, etc...) and small household items you may no longer want or need around your house. They will pay us 10 cents per pound. We will have the truck available for people to drop off their gently used, unwanted items during the week from 8a.m.-3 p.m. We will use the money to add to our funding for the sound system PTO wants to purchase for our music department. 10% will go towards the contingency fund. Texas Roadhouse Rolls will be delivered Friday, Nov. 8th and can be picked up at school between 3:00 and 4:30. We cannot store rolls in our freezers overnight so please arrange for pick up in the gym. Please park and come in the school to get them.

Our Halloween parade will begin at 1:15 in the front driveway. Parties will begin at 1:30. Students can wear their costumes with appropriate shoes for PE. Please do not send costume weapon props. Remember you can park in the basketball court parking lot.
We hope you are continuing to take orders for Texas Roadhouse rolls. Orders and money are due on Friday. Rolls should be in before Thanksgiving. The money raised will help us buy a sound system for our school.
Students need to be on time for school Thursday due to the field trip. Make sure you have sent in your permission slip as all students are going on the bus. 7:45 is the latest they can arrive.
PTO is doing a fundraiser for a Texas Roadhouse Roll sale starting 10/14/24 and ending on 10/25/24. The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money for a new sound system for the school. We ask all families to help in this endeavor since it benefits the whole school. Please collect money when you take orders. Rolls will be in before Thanksgiving.
Tuesday is our family STEAM night from 5:30-7:30. Wednesday is Unity Day and students are asked to show they are against bullying by wearing orange.
Wednesday, 10/9/24, is picture day. Order forms were sent home last week for prepayment. You may also pay online at Strawbridge.net. The code is FM461582. All students will be photographed for the yearbook. We have a schedule for classes to follow so don't be late. Pick out your outfit tonight and come with your best smile!
Our book fair kicks off Monday. To have some fun we are encouraging all to wear western wear on Monday. Students who have library on Thursday will visit the book fair on Monday and Thursday. Students who go to library on Tuesday will visit the fair on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be open on Thursday evening from 5-7. We will have parent teacher conferences on Thursday 10/10. Teachers have sent notices home to those they need to speak with. Students do not have school on Friday 10/11 due to a professional learning day for staff. We are also doing a Kids Helping Kids Challenge of collecting supplies for Hurricane Helene victims. See Mayor Scott Edwards's post on his Facebook page. A flyer will be sent home if you'd like to help.
We will start selling popcorn on Friday. It will be 50 cents.
Save Around Coupon books and orders are due back Tuesday. Orders will be processed and sent home Tuesday. Picture day has been rescheduled for 10/9/24.

Tonight (9/19) at 6:00 is our PTO meeting. There is no school on Friday 9/20 due to a Professional Learning day for staff. We hope you are selling the coupon books for our school fundraiser. Orders/money are due Monday.
The Save Around Coupon Book sale begins today and runs through September 23. They are $25. Students who sell 5 books will get to go to the game truck as a reward and families will earn a free book. If you sell 3, you get a free t- shirt. Funds raised will help the school buy academic supplies and materials, and 10% will go towards the contingency funds for other needs. If you do not want to sell the coupon books, please return it Tuesday with your child's envelope. We always accept donations as well.

We will have our annual Grandparent's Day festivities on Friday, Sept. 6 celebrating the life of Walt Disney! Grandparents (or surrogate grandparents) are invited to attend starting at 8:30 am in the classrooms. At 8:55, visitors will transition to the cafe for a program by grades K-5 as they rotate in for a special song by their grade level. Grandparents will depart after the program. Students will need to stay in school for the rest of their day. Invitations were sent home Tuesday.
Lakeside will hold Open House Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Students can come and meet their teachers and see their classroom before school starts. We will have bus drivers on hand to answer questions, free school supplies, Good News Club information, Big Brothers Big Sisters table, PTA information and more in the cafeteria. We hope to see you there.
